Saudi Arabia has been confirmed as the host nation for the 2034 FIFA Men’s World Cup, while the 2030 edition will be jointly hosted by Spain, Portugal, and Morocco, with additional one-off matches in three South American countries.
The announcement was made on Wednesday by FIFA President Gianni Infantino during a virtual extraordinary Congress.
Both the 2030 and 2034 World Cups had only one bid each and were approved by acclamation.
Uruguay hosted the inaugural World Cup in 1930, while Argentina and Spain have previously staged the tournament. Meanwhile, Portugal, Paraguay, and Morocco will host the event for the first time.
In 2034, Saudi Arabia will become the second Middle Eastern country to host the World Cup, following Qatar’s successful hosting of the tournament in 2022.
